Two Cool Things I Wanna Talk About

Recently, two cool unexpected things happened. Let's talk about them.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor re-released their first work

Legendary Canadian post-rock band finally released their actual first album, all lights fucked on the hairy amp drooling. If you haven't heard about this band, I strongly recommend you to check them out. They are one of the most revolutionary bands of the late 90s and early 2000s. So, their official debut is F#A#∞, which was released back in 1997. And this album was recorded in 1993 by only 3 members, Efrim Menuck, Mauro Pezzente, and Mike Moya. This thing was officially released in double cassette, in 1994.

Since then, it has become a mystery surrounded by this band. People argued if it was a hoax or real because the cassette was only dubbed 33 times. Efrim Menuck claimed that this album does exist, but it doesn't sound like Godspeed's any later work, considering there were only 3 members in the band. A few different people on the Internet have uploaded this album to Youtube or SoundCloud, some are real some are not. Luckily, on February 14, the band officially released this album on their Bandcamp, confirming this whole mystery.

According to Menuck's interview with the Kreative Kontrol podcast:

"I don't feel like the cassette was a mistake, I don't feel embarrassed by it [...] If I was younger than I am [...], I would have just put it on SoundCloud. [...] I'm not confused about any of that, you know? It's just [that] you've brought up another point, which is it's not Godspeed, and it feels disrespectful to my friends who I've played music with for almost 30 years to be presenting this thing that was just me and a tiny room, you know?"

I've listened to a few songs, and as his words, doesn't sound like Godspeed at all. Not saying it's bad by any means, it's still a very interesting sound from Godspeed.

    Kanye West dropped Donda 2

Ye was crazy on social media days before the final drop of Donda 2, which I've covered on this blog before. And surprisingly, he didn't delay the drop date. Another plot twist was, it wasn't on streaming services, you can only listen to this album on Ye's stem player. The stem player itself costs 200 bucks and because of that I probably won't buy it, though it does seem to be a very cool little thing.

Possibly the biggest plot twist was the listening party of Donda 2, which was held in Miami. The whole listening party finally revealed these feature artists, Jack Harlow, Travis Scott, Future, etc. Most surprisingly, X was on this album twice on True Love and Selfish. The aesthetic of this show looked quite epic and big budget. Of course, if any of you watched this Livestream, you'll notice that the audio was truly horrible. Not to discredit any of their performances, but making Kanye throw microphones twice during the show... Kanye hasn't said anything about this show, but what can it be. Those guys definitely will get fired tonight.

But overall it's quite entertaining, enjoy it a lot.
