Things are going terribly wrong. This is the fourth day since the war broke out. Another worrying story is: Chelsea FC may go bust if Britain confiscates all Roman Abramovich's assets. I'm not the biggest fan of Chelsea FC, but seeing a club formed in 1905, multiple winners of the Premier League, the Champion of the world will go extinct possibly just incredibly sad.     Roman Abramovich currently hands over the stewardship of Chelsea to the trustees of the club's charitable foundation. Basically, it doesn't really mean something, the situation is still insecure because the foundation was owned by Roman Abramovich. It will be a catastrophe for the football world if Chelsea goes bust.      Hope the best for the club.        We still need to have  hope for the future. So I would recommend some anti-war☮ music(just general anti-war):     Albums         Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinn...

2022

This is going to be a short blog.      Jesus Christ, man. I can't believe this. When we were thinking of 2020 as the worst year ever existed in our lives, 2022 may just come and ruin the world. Only two months in, loads of horrible things just happened. Can you believe it? Covid-19, after two years, was still affecting our lives. Those variants made the pandemic serious again, what was that called, omicron? The Greek alphabet won't be enough if Covid-19 is still a thing. Lockdowns, social distancing, and wearing these stupid masks. (definitely encourage doing these, though, they're quite important to keep you healthy) Those relegations are so so annoying.     Another horrible thing is the whole Ukraine war just broke out yesterday. I don't even want to talk about it because everything is just so frustrating. Things are going horribly wrong. This is what dictatorship will bring to the whole society. Who knows what will happen next?     Pra...

Two Cool Things I Wanna Talk About

Image
Recently, two cool unexpected things happened. Let's talk about them.     Godspeed You! Black Emperor re-released their first work     Legendary Canadian post-rock band finally released their actual first album, all lights fucked on the hairy amp drooling . If you haven't heard about this band, I strongly recommend you to check them out. They are one of the most revolutionary bands of the late 90s and early 2000s. So, their official debut is F#A#∞ , which was released back in 1997. And this album was recorded in 1993 by only 3 members, Efrim Menuck, Mauro Pezzente, and Mike Moya. This thing was officially released in double cassette, in 1994.     Since then, it has become a mystery surrounded by this band. People argued if it was a hoax or real because the cassette was only dubbed 33 times. Efrim Menuck claimed that this album does exist, but it doesn't sound like Godspeed's any later work, considering there were only 3 members in the ba...

Starter Pack: Mall Emo

Image
Mall Emo, or in Brand New or Sunny Day Real Estate fans eyes, "fake emo". It's used to describe bands like My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, Hawthorne Heights, AFI, and The Used. But a lot of people dislike this word, even Gerard Way himself said:"  the modern idea of emo is basically a pair of jeans and a haircut." Hate it or love it, this word is still used as describing those bands' music. So I'll recommend a few albums to get into this genre.     Paramore - All We Know Is Falling     Probably a strange pick, in some of your eyes. Something about this album just hits differently than Paramore's other albums. Riot and Brand New Eyes are both more pop-punk vibe. And there's a thing people say about pop-punk or emo - they bring back nostalgia every time. I legit think All We Know Is Falling is the most nostalgic out of all their albums. Some people complain about this album's mix wasn't great, but I don't see this proble...

The Smartest Rock Band Right Now

Image
Rock n' roll has undoubtedly fallen off hard since the last century. The 90s had a Grunge trend, in the 2000s we had Garage Rock revival, Pop-punk, and Emo. But in the 2010s Rock music just wasn't doing anything, basically. The trap wave probably murdered Rock music in the mainstream. Rock bands like Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys were still doing numbers, but their audience is possibly middle-aged men. But there's one band that single-handedly, still carries on the Rock game. That band is Bring Me The Horizon. BMTH     Among all these metalcore, scene bands, they were the band that made the furthest and still continued the rock sound over the years. With songs like Can You Feel My Heart and Throne still popular on Tiktok, it's safe to say that Bring Me The Horizon has a large appeal to the new generation. Most importantly, their sound is actually not bad. Sempiternal  to That's The Spirit , Amo  to the latest EP  Post Human: Survival Horror...

These Fresh Artists You Gotta Check Out!

Image
Those artists are super new! And they make fantastic music!     Black Country, New Road Black Country, New Road     Black Country, New Road is a British Rock band formed in 2018. They released their beloved debut in 2021, For the first time . They released an even better album, Ants From Up There this year. If they still lived in the black midi influence For the first time era, then Ants From Up There is a true masterpiece. Sadly Isaac Wood, the ex-singer of the band departed, and Ants From Up There is his last work for the band. Hope they and Isaac will have a bright future.      dltzk dltzk     dltzk(delete zeke) is an 18-year-old producer from New Jersey. Although he's extremely young, dltzk has become a Digicore hero over the past years. The two projects dropped in 2021, Teen Week and Frailty gained some critical attention. I really love the weird combination of electronic music, rock music, hip-hop music, and so m...

Who is this guy??

Every Kanye post:     prodbyzaqq: "Ye da 🐐 no 🧢"      And I don't get that why he said this on a meme account: #prodbyzaqqneedstostop

Worst to Best: Radiohead

Image
Radiohead is probably the most critically-acclaimed musical act in the last 3 decades. Their discography was one of the most consistent of all time. Whether it's Grunge, Britpop, Art Rock, IDM, Radiohead does it well. So I will rank their 9 LP from worst to best. Radiohead     Keep that in mind, none of them are completely awful, it's all in the context of their discography.     9. Pablo Honey        Although Pablo Honey had one of the most important moments in their whole discography( creep, of course), Pablo Honey was still Radiohead's least interesting album. They sounded like any bands else at that point, a bit Grunge a bit Britpop. With that being said, this album is still good production-wise. Creep is still a classic rock song, You is a massively underrated song, and the Anyone Can Play Guitar live show at the MTV Beach House is the greatest moment of all time.      Score: 6.0/10     8. The King of Lim...

KANYE IS MAD AGAIN...

Image
Kanye just has been in full drama mode for about two weeks. The last time he was mad about his ex-wife Kim K, this time he defended Travis Scott and demanded Billie Eilish to make an apology to Travis. I actually agreed with Kanye last time since he made some fair points about Tiktok. If you don't know that story, he already deleted the posts so I can't explain it. Anyway, this time I'd argue Kanye is a bit stupid......               Basically, Billie paused her performance in Atlanta last week when she noticed a fan have difficulty breathing. She calmed the audience and said:" I wait for people to be okay until I keep going." Now, this could be taken as a "slight diss" at Travis Scott's Astroworld tragedy where 10 people died. Frankly, I don't see a problem with Billie doing this, again she was just helping a fan. But Ye decided to jump out and defended Travis, demanding an apology.    Ye and Billie Eil...

YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT THIS CHINESE BAND!

Image
As indeed a Chinese, I barely listen to Chinese music. Instead, my favorite bands are My Chemical Romance, Radiohead, etc. The problem that I have with our music is a lot of the time we don't have a great and unique sound, or I just don't care for that much. However, I do LOVE this rock band called "万能青年旅店" (Omnipotent Youth Society).      万能青年旅店(Omnipotent Youth Society)     Founded in 2002, they've only released 2 albums in 20 years. The band members actually met in 1996, Shijiazhuang, which is the capital of Hebei Province. Two albums are 万能青年旅店(Omnipotent Youth Society (Self-titled)) and 冀西南林路行(Inside the Cable Temple).      As an outsider, you may find these lyrics quite hard to narrow down. Even if you are a "Mandarin expert", they are still inexplicable because quite a lot of them wrote in a Classical Chinese way and most of them were related to the history of Shijiazhuang. With that being said, the band is heavily infl...

5 MORE GREAT SONGS OF 2021

Image
2021 is truly a great year for music. I want to cover just so many songs in my blogs, so here are 5 more great songs.     I've already made one talking 5 great songs, feel free to check it out: 5 Great Mainstream Songs of 2021    In no particular order:       6. Magdalena Bay - You Lose!       Frankly, this is easily the best pop song I've ever heard since Carly Rae Jepsen's Run Away With Me. Obviously,  Mercurial World is truly one of a kind experience. Lots of bops are as great as this song, but I would say that this is the freshest one out of Mercurial World . The video game influence is absolutely amazing; the aggressiveness as a pop tune just really sticks out to me. Magdalena Bay is just one of the most amazing things that happened in the pop field recently.       7. St. Vincent - Live in the Dream       I've covered St. Vincent before, and I LOVE the Daddy's Home  record, which...

5 Great Mainstream Songs of 2021

Image
No particular order, these five songs are some mainstream songs that I really like in 2021. If you are a mainstreamer, sure these five songs will leave you a smile. They're not necessarily my top five tracks of the year, but I did enjoy all of them. Here come the list (Links down below) : 1.Olivia Rodrigo - deja vu      Really love this song. I love how Olivia deals with influence on this track. I'm able to hear Lorde, Taylor Swift, and herself three personalities on the same. The chorus hits in nice and comfortable. 2. Wolf Alice -  Lipstick on the Glass    The Intro hits crazy. The whole mixing is so euphoric and grand, which makes this song so incredibly great. There's a big Lana Del Rey vibe here. If you like Lana Del Rey, this song hits absolutely insane. 3. Porter Robinson - Look at the Sky      Nurture  is a sick album, so does Look at the Sky . The instant catchy synth ballads really stick out for me, and the vocals...

Thoughts on St. Vincent Self-Titled Album

Image
I've listened to two St. Vincent records, Daddy's Home and Strange Mercy . Daddy's Home is absolutely a great record, one of my favorites of 2021. Strange Mercy is a sick one as well. Definitely recommend these two stunning albums, especially Daddy's Home , that one really stands out to me. Daddy's Home Strange Mercy St. Vincent     So I checked out the self-titled because people argued that is better than all of her other stuff. It was definitely the most ambitious one she had ever done, for sure. However, being experimental and abstract at the same time, I just felt the mix and production were NOT THERE. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very forward-thinking record, but it's not as great as her other more mature stuff. My biggest issue is the instrumentation being way too stiff, almost every track has the exact same problem. Maybe I'm not the type of person to get this kind of production, maybe I'm just too normie for this stuff.     ...

Why Electronic Music Seldom Made Into Mainstream?

Image
Among all music genres, electronic music is a special existence. If you dive in to the electronic music section, you would find the crazy amount of sub-genres that electronic music had. According to Wikipedia, one of the biggest genres of electronic music, House music has about 36 sub-genres.     But, electronic music has seldom entered the charts in history. You can argue genres like disco, new wave, modern EDM were making waves over the past DECADES, but very soon they were gone. And in my opinion, the new wave and modern EDM are more likely to be punk music and pop music, so in fact, only bands like daft punk should be considered as“pure electronic music". And speaking of PURE Electronic music, the popularity is nowhere near rock and hip-hop, considering electronic music is one of the origins of hip-hop music.      Thanks to the development of technology, HUGE bands like The Beatles, Pink Floyd can use synthesizers to make their music sounds mor...
